Introducing the Wren Diver 38 Seafoam: A New Chapter for Wren Watches
Ever since the launch of Wren Watches, I wanted to create the perfect dive watch. And while the Diver One is a great watch, I wanted to take it a step further. The Diver 38 Seafoam is that step. It is the most refined, wearable, and complete watch I have made so far. It is available now for preorder at $1,595, with both date and no-date versions offered.
This watch introduces a slimmer, more compact case, upgraded finishing, and a movement that not only wears better but also looks better through the new display caseback. The result is a dive watch that still feels rugged and capable, but now fits even better into everyday life.
Compact Proportions, Upgraded Movement
The Diver 38 Seafoam uses a 38mm case, with a 45mm lug-to-lug, and is just 10.7mm thick including the box sapphire crystal. It is powered by the Swiss-made ETA 2892—thinner, smoother, and more refined than the Sellita SW200 I used in the Diver One. This movement allowed me to reduce the case height by more than 2.5mm, which completely transforms how the watch wears.
It also opened the door to include a sapphire display caseback, something I had always wanted to do. The 2892 is simply a better-looking movement and deserved to be seen. Inside, you’ll find a custom skeletonized rotor in the shape of a Wren—one of the small but meaningful design details that makes this release feel personal.
A Smaller Diver That Still Feels Capable
There are not many smaller, thinner dive watches on the market that still feel like real tools. I set out to make one of the most wearable divers out there. Something that could fit under a cuff, look good dressed up or down, and not feel like a compromise. The Diver 38 wears flat to the wrist, and the case shape has been reworked to contour smoothly without looking too delicate.
It is still rated to 200 meters of water resistance and uses the same sandwich dial construction as the Diver One, with lume shining through cutout markers. The Seafoam gradient dial is a new colorway for the brand, offering a bright and distinctive look that still feels clean and versatile. Polished steel hands and a white minute track complete the dial layout.
Ceramic Bezel, Upgraded Bracelet
The Diver 38 features a fully lumed ceramic bezel. That’s a step up from the Diver One, which had a sapphire bezel with lume only on the pip (on the Aqua and Sand) or a lumed scale (on the Snow). The ceramic inserts on the Diver 38 use filled lume that glows more evenly and much brighter in low light. The bezel action is crisp and precise.
The watch comes on a flat-link stainless steel bracelet with brushed tops, polished chamfers, and solid articulation. I also added a new on-the-fly microadjust clasp that makes it easy to dial in the fit without tools. It is the kind of detail I always appreciated in other watches and knew I wanted to bring to Wren. The quick-release system is still here, but it has been redesigned to be smoother and more secure.
Each preorder also includes a fitted FKM rubber strap, available in black or grey. These straps are molded specifically to the Diver 38 case and give the watch a clean, integrated look when you want something more casual.
How It Compares to the Diver One
The Diver One was priced at $965 and gave a lot of value: Swiss movement, sapphire bezel, sandwich dial, and solid bracelet. We made just 100 of each version, and they sold out fast. It was designed to offer strong specs at an approachable price, and I think it did that very well.
But the Diver 38 goes further. The case is smaller and thinner. The movement is a full tier up. The bezel glows brighter and uses ceramic. The bracelet has microadjust. The caseback is now open, with a custom rotor. And the overall fit and finish has been refined across the board.
