A sketonized dive watch, with a Tourbillon, and 300 meters of water resistance? Well, Angelus delivers with their all-new U53 Dive Watch. This ultra limited edition boasts quite the spec-list considering its practicality may be… well, practically non-existant.

THE JUICE:

Let’s be honest here, nobody is going diving with the Angelus U53. It doesn’t mean they can’t, but they won’t be. The watch will allow for it, and honestly, it wouldn’t be a terrible companion with it’s titanium case, large bridges, and boasted helium escape valve at 9 o’ clock. I imagine the watch will be superbly light, and when paired with the rubber and nato, won’t have a difficult time sliding over a wetsuit.

Angelus has opted for a “Khaki” green hue to add to the utility aesthetic. Personally, I prefer the nato strap on the watch as it seems to match the dial better in the press images. The movement is, as always with Angelus, extra-ordinary. A tourbillon sits at the 7 o’ clock position, with a small seconds at 10 o’ clock. The oversized and well finished bridges allow for the handset to be picked out at a glance, and the lume seems superb.

Overall, the Angelus U53 is a beautiful addition to the Angelus catalogue. It’s clean, fun, surprisingly utility driven, and legible - Something I haven’t always been able to pride the brand on putting at the forefront of their models. The watch could actually be taken diving, even if that seems… Wrong. Will this watch end up being safe fodder? Probably. But it’s cool to know that if you ever end up wanting to take it into the depths, you can.

How Much Is the Angelus U53 Dive Watch?

The watch is limited to 25 pieces and will run you 39,400 CHF (around $42,500 USD).
