Joe Biden’s Watch Collection - The 46th President's Watches

I remember January 20th watching my TV on Inauguration day for Joe Biden when my wife looked at me and goes “Now’s your time to shine. What watch is he wearing?” Low and Behold, during his speech, he lifted his hands a shiny new Rolex was on his wrist. While we’ve highlighted the watches of all the living President’s, I never had thought much about the 46th President’s watch collection, so I went back and looked at what he has in rotation. Nobody will be surprised that it’s a solid classic watch collection.

Joe Biden’s Rolex Datejust 41

We can start with the watch mentioned above. Arguably the most recognizable and classic watch Rolex has ever made, the Datejust 41 fits well among the elite political sphere. Rolexes have been worn by multiple presidents: Lyndon Johnson previously wore one, Reagan, and even more famously JFK.

The classic and uniform nature of the Datejust simply works well in casual settings, or with a suit. The Rolex is said to have been a gift from Biden’s wife, Jill. While many have claimed that the dial is black, from a lot of angles it looks blue which has had it’s fair share of discussion in the watch community. What do you think? Black or Blue?

Joe Biden’s Omega Speedmaster

Again, no surprise to see an Omega Speedmaster make the list. Joe has largely been a fan of NASA and the cosmos in general - Even revealing an increase in funding to the organization.

However, it is a little-known fact that so far as anyone can tell, Joe is the first President to wear a Speedmaster which IS surprising considering its firm roots in American space travel. JFK’s historic promise to put astronauts on the moon saw those same astronauts rocking none-other than an Omega Speedmaster on the journey. Interestingly, Richard Nixon was gifted a Solid Gold Speedmaster, but declined it due to it’s value.

As someone who owns a Speedy, and has always loved the Speedmaster, it’s nice to finally see it on the wrist of an American President.

Joe Biden’s Omega Seamaster

Next on the list is another Omega, this time a Seamaster 300M Ref. 2531.80.00. The Seamaster has been a watch Joe has worn historically when he’s speaking to blue-collar constituents. The Seamaster 300M is first and foremost a tool watch, so he seems to understand different occasions call for different watches - In this case, the Seamaster seems to be the watch he wears when he’s ready to roll up his sleeves.

Joe Biden’s Apple Watch

And of course, and I think we’ll see this more commonly going forward with future presidents, we have Joe’s trusty Apple Watch. Being that he’s older, this makes total sense for not only practical reasons, but health reasons too. Obviously, as the apple watch and the convenience it brings really feels like an extension of one’s phone, I see more and more people in positions of power wearing them - From CEO’s to politicians.

The convenience of wearable hardware is simply too hard to deny. So for functionality, I’m more than comfortable stating that Joe won’t be the last president to be seen wearing an Apple Watch.

Joe Biden’s Seiko 7T32-6M90 Chronograph

When Joe took the stage as President-Elect, he was rocking the quintessential Seiko Alarm Chronograph. The two-tone watch is fairly old, but still classy and not nearly as ostentatious as a Rolex or Omega. The watch itself has never really been popular, even among Seiko enthusiasts, but still a solid wear overall. It’s also been one of Biden’s more storied watches over the years, as it appears he’s worn it even in the 90’s.

Presidents and their watches have always been a big topic of conversation among watch enthusiasts. JFK famously wore an Omega Ultra-Thin, Clinton a Timex Ironman, Trump a Vacheron Constantin, and Obama a Jorg Grey. It’s pretty refreshing to see some more traditional luxury watches in the White House. From a watch collecting standpoint, Joseph Biden’s watch Collection may seem a bit boring, but I find it a perfectly classic rotation with plenty of American influence. Here’s to seeing what pops up on his wrist next.
