INTRODUCING: IWC Pilot’s Watch Performance Chronograph 41 AMG & Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula One™ Team Edition

IWC has a rich history of racing sponsorship - most notably, with a large footprint in Formula 1. As a bona fide maker of true tool watches, this should come as no surprise. The entire ethos of the brand is based on reliability, durability, and simplicity - which their Pilot’s Watch line has in spades. A focal point of that line (aside from the famed ‘Big Pilot’) has been the Pilot’s Watch Chronograph 41. With a number of impressive variations and limited releases already in the line, IWC now brings their more modestly-sized chronograph to the next level with the new Pilot’s Watch Performance Chronograph 41 AMG.

THE JUICE:

The Pilot’s Watch Chronograph collection has been one where IWC has stretched their proverbial legs a bit, and really tested what their fan base wants. The line has seen a number of colorful ceramics, their patented “Ceratanium” case material, and most importantly, models dedicated to their partnership with Mercedes AMG. This most recent AMG collaboration really leans into its purpose with the addition of a ceramic bezel and Tachymetre scale. A full titanium (or Ceratanium, if you go with the Petronas Team Edition) will keep the watch light and durable - not to mention, highly resistant to scratches, as all sport watches should be. These watches are compatible with IWC’s patented EasX-CHANGE system, allowing wearers to switch straps effortlessly (as an IWC wearer myself, I can attest to its incredible convenience).

This watch is what fans of the brand have come to love them for - clean, reliable, and durable. The ceramic bezel is a new look for the IWC Pilot’s Watch Chronograph, as is the Tachymetre. I think these features bolster the sportiness of this watch, and will ultimately help it appeal to a wider audience outside the IWC cultish fanbase.

So how much is the Pilot’s Watch Performance Chronograph 41?

The price for the Titanium will be $11,700 USD and Petronas Team Edition will be $19,900 USD.
