INTRODUCING: The Doxa Sub 200T

Doxa has a strong heritage in the watch industry. Their roots trace back to 1889 when Georges Ducommun founded Doxa at the age of 21. Doxa is the Greek term for glory, which the brand has so boldly embodied through its history as well as the strides Doxa has made in the industry. Their most popular timepieces are their dive watches which came onto the scene in 1967. They did not venture lightly into the dive watch market. Doxa’s goal was to create a dive watch that was purpose designed and affordable.

Doxa product developer, Urs Eschle, worked closely with Jacques-Yves Cousteau and Claude Wesly when engineering the first Doxa dive watch. Jacques-Yves Cousteau was a French naval officer, oceanographer, and filmmaker. He is also the co-inventor of the first ever successful Scuba device, the Aqua-Lung. Together, Doxa and their team of ocean experts introduced the Doxa SUB 300T at Basel World in 1967 after three years of research and development. The piece made a big impact in the world of dive watches and Doxa continues to set new standards and goals for dive watches continuing the success of the SUB 300T.

Today, Doxa introduces another big addition to their dive watch collection. The SUB 200T. Although Doxa already has a SUB 200 line within their dive collection the brand-new SUB 200T is making newer advances in an already successful history of dive watches.

THE JUICE:

One might ask what is significant about the SUB 200T when there is already a SUB 200 and SUB 300T collection, especially since the SUB 200T looks identical to the SUB 300T and very different than Doxa’s SUB 200. Diving deeper into the new SUB 200T we can see that Doxa offers a range of new and improved qualities in this collection, while maintaining the noteworthy traits of the original SUBs DNA.

One of the biggest differences is that the SUB 200T collection is in an all-new smaller size of 39mm! As smaller cases become more popular and in demand across watches, Doxa felt the market of dive watches also needed more options in smaller sizes. Doxa also introduces a new color to the mix. The collection comes packed with eight colorway options, including the traditional and iconic Professional Orange and the new Sea Emerald Green. Additional colors are, Searambler Silver, Sharkhunter Black, Caribbean Navy, Divingstar Yellow, Aquamarine Turquoise, Whitepearl White. Not only are there eight colorways to choose from but there is also the option of two dial finishes. You can have either a sunray or iconic finish in the color you choose. The pieces also offer Doxa’s options of a rubber strap or their loved “beads of rice” bracelet.

This new collection is an exciting addition to Doxa’s line of dive watches. We have seen Doxa’s popularity amongst divers, celebrities, as well as novelists like Clive Cussler who has even collaborated with Doxa on a piece due to his famous protagonist known to wear a Doxa. Actors such as Matthew McConaughey have worn a Doxa in their daily lives as well as in films, like the SUB 600T in the film Sahara and Robert Redford who wore a SUB 300T in Three Days of the Condor.

We believe the SUB 200T will be well received by watch enthusiasts and artists alike. The SUB 200T also falls in line with Doxa’s mission of accessible prices for purposeful dive watches. The SUB 200T will be a great choice for entry level divers and for those who might want a fun tool watch, even if they won’t use it underwater.

So how much is the SUB 200T Watch?

Price for the SUB 200T watch will come in at $1,603 USD on rubber and $1,647 USD on a bracelet.
