INTRODUCING: The Baume & Mercier Clifton Moonphase

“Accept only perfection, only manufacture watches of the highest quality.” That’s the motto of the innovative Swiss watch brand Baume & Mercier. This brand is known for bridging the gap between creativity and luxury, and its Clifton collection bridges the gap between the modern man and classical watchmaking. With its newest additions to the collection, Baume & Mercier brings a moon phase complication that adds a slight twist to the powerfully simple timepiece. THE JUICE:

Creating a timepiece that embodies modern simplicity yet still provides complications is incredibly challenging. Yet with the release of the M0A10756 & M0A10758, Baume & Mercier has done just that. In a versatile 39mm size, the blue and black timepieces exude a subtle elegance. The lacquered blue and black dials are finished with a color gradation to show varying shades of color. A thin stainless steel bezel contrasts against the dark color on the perimeter of the dial. Then rhodium-plated indices offer a pop of color in silver or rose gold. Perhaps the star of the show - both literally and figuratively - is the moon phase complication. In the blue model, the moon phase disk is blue-lacquered and rhodium-plated. In the black model, the moon phase disk is black-lacquered and gold-plated. Surrounding each of the moon phase complications is a subtle date complication; it consists of date numerals on a ring with a rhodium-plated or gold-plated hand pointing to the date.

Powering these new timepieces is a Baumatic, one of Baume & Mercier’s reliable calibers. It boasts an impressive 120-hour (5-day) power reserve as well as a magnetic resistance of 1,500 Gauss. In addition to magnetic protection, the watches are water resistant to 5 ATM (about 50m). Capping off the appearance of the watch is the exhibition caseback, which shows the movement. As a thoughtful addition, Baume & Mercier left space on the caseback for engraving. The perfect personalized gift? We think so.

Baume & Mercier’s Clifton collection is a simple yet bold timepiece for the modern man. The timepieces in the collection include several moon phase complications but few as simple as those in the M0A10756 and 10758. These two new watches are right at home within the Clifton collection as well as in the personal collection of any watch fan or man who needs a staple timepiece. In two colorways that can match almost any ensemble, the new Clifton Baumatic Moon Phase models might become your next everyday wear or your favorite dress watch to don alongside your suit and tie.
