Over the course of his eight-year presidency, Barack Obama pretty much wore a single watch. It was a simple watch by a brand a lot of people haven’t really heard of. But we soon learned that the 44th President of the United States had a couple other watches in his rotation. Both are unique in their own right, and both feel pretty “Obama-y”. So what what watches does Obama wear?

Barack Obama’s Jorg Gray 6500 Chronograph

We’ll start with Barack Obama’s Jorg Gray 6500 Chronograph in stainless steel. As a birthday present for Barack Obama on his 46th Birthday, his secret service detail put together a custom Jorg Gray 6500 to mark the occasion. This was in 2007. By 2009, Obama had been president for a little under a year when someone spotted it and put it out on the internet. It became one of the highest searched watches of 2009. In fact, Jorg Gray put out an entire commemorative collection that’s even sold through the white house gift shop.

A key differentiator however, is Obama’s version features a Secret Service badge prominently under 12 o’ clock and an inscription on the back. The modern collection is faithful, however it does not include the secret service logo, though at one point the Secret Service Gift Shop was selling them and quickly changed their mind. There are a few still floating around, but none identical to Obama’s. The watch runs on a miyota quartz movement so it is not an expensive piece by any means. Price for the watch is $450 USD.

Barack Obama’s Rolex Cellini

The Rolex Cellini was also a staple for the President. Though, never while he was in office. It’s unclear how long Obama has owned the Cellini, though many have seen him owning it before his bid for presidency, and post presidency, it seems to be his go-to watch. It’s a modest dress watch at 39mm in white gold with a white dial and contrasting indices. It utilizes a simple knurled edge bezel for texture and an oversize onion crown. Simple and Elegant. Barack Obama’s Actively Black X Teleport Chronograph

New Years 2022, a picture of Barack and Michelle Obama was posted to social media and it literally broke the entire watch enthusiast internet. People were clamoring to figure out what was on his wrist. Many settled on a Hublot Big Bang or a Royal Oak Offshore. With a mountain of internet sleuthing, we at Wrist Enthusiast broke the news that he was actually wearing a yet-to-be released collaboration between a small independent called “Teleport Watches” and an activewear company called “Actively Black" - A really cool black-owned collective clothing brand that sees the likes of Steph Curry as ambassadors. The watch is modest but legible with an integrated rubber strap. It was cool to see Barak supporting a lesser-known (at the time) black-owned company so prominently. Even better, the watch only costs $300 USD.
