Christiaan Van Der Klaauw Releases an All New Meteorite Dial Real Moon Joure

It’s no secret: We here at WristEnthusiast are really huge space nerds. There are few brands as exciting in the Astronomical Watch Space like Christiaan Van Der Klaauw - and no watches so exciting as the Real Moon Joure. The line of watches feature photo-real moonphases, and are offered in a variety of different materials. Yesterday, the brand has released an all new striking addition to the collection - this time in green meteorite.

THE JUICE:

The watch will come in 6 different variations - making this the largest collection in the Christiaan Van Der Klaauw Catalogue. There will be three materials, Steel, White Gold, and Red Gold. Additionally, there will be diamond bezel options for each piece. The 40mm case us relatively thick due to the real-moon module featuring a literal sphere for a moonphase. The dial only features indices from 9-3 o’clock making the real star of the show the green meteorite dial.

Meteorite in general can be a finicky material to work with - which is why you tend to typically find it in a various array of monochromatic color schemes. For Christiaan Van Der Klaauw, they’ve decided to color the meteorite into a striking aesthetic. My favorite of the bunch is the red gold model, which is both visually appealing, and a bit different from anything we’ve really seen before - both from the brand, and in general.

The real moon phase compliments the watch beautifully and the traditional handset just ads to the visual pizzazz. The dial’s total surface area is textured with the meteorite material, with little visual clutter. This is a major win for the brand.

Flipping the watch over provides no less visual angst. The movement is beautifully decorated, and despite the large realmoon phase, the specs check out. Features a whopping 96-hour power reserve via a twin-barrel configuration, the movement also feature a really unique rotor engraved with planets and stars, as well as 35-jewels.

Overall this was an unexpected and solid release from Christiaan Van Der Klaauw. The watch is beautifully decorated, as always, and the green dial trend - although thoroughly jumped on, is done right in this case. I am excited to see what else the brand has up it’s sleeve for 2022.

*Normally, we would list the price here, however we have not seen the pricing for these watches yet. We expect the pricing to be released in the next few days, and will update the article accordingly.
