H. Moser Endeavour Small Seconds Total Eclipse

H. Moser & Cie absolutely killed it last year. Their fan-favorite Streamliner Perpetual Calendar not only turned heads, but was nominated for a number of awards across the industry. Personally, I found the Dual-Time Heritage to be an absolute standout hit (I mean, come on, does Moser ever really miss?) at a time where I was getting bored with the Industry’s more popular releases.

Yesterday, the brand released the Endeavour Small Seconds Total Eclipse - an ultra-sleek dress watch inspired by the menswear brand The Armoury.

THE JUICE:

H. Moser & Cie has released two iterations of the watch - both have a steel case, however one features steel accents, while the the other features rose-gold accents.

The dial is Vantablack treated, which allows these accents to seriously pop against it. Vantablack is a seriously unique treatment that acts as an almost anti-color. Its been considered the darkest man-made color ever created. It’s a black that’s so… er, black, that it almost feeds like a void. Moser has previously treated a dial in this way with the Venturer Vantablack - and it was one of the coolest watches I’ve ever seen. The Vantablack allows anything sitting against the dial to seemingly float above the black hole-esque disc below it.

The Endeavour Small Seconds Total Eclipse falls into a similar vain, though with a bit more delicate features. For one, the thin Breguet handset extends out to miniature pip hour markers. A double marker marks the top of the watch at 12 o’ clock. There is no small seconds subdial, only a hand. This provides a seemingly floating seconds hand above the dial - a sleek feature for an otherwise minimalistic dress watch.

Inside the Total Eclipse is the HMC 327. A hand wind movement operated by an oversized crown. The movement features a power reserve indicator on the movement side (keeping the dial clean) to keep track of the watches generous 72-hour power reserve. The HMC 327 features 27 jewels and beats at 18,000 VpH.

Overall, this is a seriously cool dress watch from the brand. The size is modest, the collaboration with The Armoury is really fun, and I can’t imagine we will see this watch sit on a shelf. All things considered, it’s modestly priced and fits well into H. Moser & Cie’s catalogue. Personally, I’m a huge fan of Vantablack and can’t wait to see this watch in the metal.
