The Big Pilot’s Monopusher Edition “Le Petit Prince” Chronograph

The Big Pilot watches have realistically been one of, if not the staple collection for IWC. There’s so many different models that fit pretty much any mold, now including the brands first Chronograph to the collection, as well as the first “Petit Prince” entry to the Big Pilot line.

THE JUICE:

The “Le Petit Prince” additions to the IWC collections have typically been identified by their major legibility. Being that most of the models don’t feature much dial “clutter”, the watches have more utility than many in the same oversized Pilot watch space. This is the first time we’ve seen a chronograph in the collection, and further, a Monopusher chronograph.

On the one hand, I love the Monopusher because it keeps the Big Pilot profile - that being the oversized watch with a single large onion crown. It’s almost difficult to tell this watch has an integrated pusher in the crown because it’s so… well, integrated.

The downside is that Monopusher chronographs are set to a series of events that may see the utility hindered to that of a “start, stop, reset” function - a minor, but still noticeable annoyance.

Additionally, you’ll notice two subdials on the dial, something foreign to the typical Big Pilot. At 12 o’clock, a 60-minute counter, and at 6 o’clock, the running seconds subdial. Luckily, they are mostly unobtrusive, and don’t throw off the overall vibe of the watch.

Overall, the watch is a great addition to IWC’s Big Pilot Collection. It’s safe, but stick new and fresh, and I think we can probably expect some additional models to be revealed in the next few months - In case this isn’t seen on Brady’s wrist in the next couple weeks.

How much is the Big Pilot Monopusher Watch “Le Petit Prince” Edition?

The watch will be limited to 500 pieces, and come with a pretty hefty price tag of $16,900 USD.
