Three New Models Are Added to the Patek Philippe Catalogue - Including an All-New Steel Annual Calendar!

As a fall 2021 novelty release, Patek Philippe has unloaded three new chronograph models across three of their collections - a new World Timer Chronograph (Ref. 5930P-001), a new Annual Calendar Chronograph in Steel (Ref. 5905/1A-001), and a new Split Second Chronograph Annual Calendar in Rose Gold (Ref. 5204R-011). All three models are highly complicated, and it begs the questions - Is Patek trying to pull some enthusiasts away from sport models? Let’s break down the World Timer and the Annual Calendar in Steel.

The Patek Philippe Flyback Chronograph Annual Calendar

the heavy hitter of the lot is the an all new Annual Calendar in… STEEL! Enthusiasts will remember this in the blue dial Annual Calendar from 2015 in Platinum, and then later in Rose Gold. For 2021, the dial gets an updated dial color, in the ultra-trendy olive green color we recently saw the Nautilus updated with.

The watch measures in at 42mm x 14.1m and is the first Annual Calendar in the 5905 run to come in a steel case. Meaning, this watch is not going to be… ahem. Available. Additionally, the watch comes with an integrated steel bracelet, that differs from the Nautilus steel bracelet - a welcomed surprised.

Inside the 5905/1A is the Caliber CH28-520 24H and man, does this thing have some complications. Its automatic, features an Annual Calendar, Flyback Chronograph, and a 45-55 Power Reserve. This movement is specifically used in the 5905/1A at this point, and features the window Annual Calendar at the top of the dial - if it wasn’t already gorgeous enough.

The Patek Philippe World Time Flyback Chronograph

Patek released the 5930 model of World Timer back in 2016, and a subsequent model in 2018 - both with blue dials. Recently, we saw a red dial model for the Singapore GE Event. It was well receieved in the industry, and when paired with Patek Philippes rich history involving the collection, it’s no wonder.

For 2021, Patek has released a new version of the 5930 - the 5930P-00 - with a super clean green dial.

The watch measures in at 39.6mm x 12.8mm and comes in a platinum case. It’s only water resistant up to 30m, so be careful washing your hands - though, I don’t imagine the modern jetsetter cares much about wearing this watch in the pool. The watch features the ultra-slick green dial we’ve become accustomed to this year, and the font color and finishing to match.

Inside the 5930P-00 is the same base CH28-520 but with Patek’s insane world timer module instead of the Annual Calendar complications. It’s automatic and features time, date, 24 hour indicator, and day/night indicator for the second 24 hour time zone.
